Nagyon
korai lenne még azt mondani, hogy megtaláltam 2019 legeslegjobb könyvét? Hát,
lehet, hogy még egy kicsit korai, de én nagyon magabiztosan azt tudom mondani,
hogy ez a könyv egy MŰALKOTÁS. Igen, így végig nagybetűkkel.
ÚRISTEN.
Oké,
most nagyon össze kellene szednem magam, hogy egyáltalán normálisan meg tudjam
írni ezt az értékelést. Vagy már csak azért, hogy egy épkézláb mondatot össze
tudjak hozni túl sok capslock és káromkodás nélkül. Őszintén megmondva, ez
nehezebb lesz, mint gondoltam.
Szóval,
már néhány nappal ezelőtt a Pretty Reckless végére értem, de még mindig Daria
és Penn történetének a hatása alatt vagyok. És Knight hatása alatt. És Vaughn
hatása alatt. És a Hothole-ok hatása alatt. Úristen, elmondhatatlanul szeretem
ezeket a karaktereket. És mióta befejeztem ennek a könyven az olvasását, azóta
mindenkinek, akivel erről beszélek ezt a mondatot biztosan elmondom: JAIME,
MINT APUKA, A LEGESLEGJOBB. Őszintén, nem is gondoltam volna, hogy lehetséges
ennyire szeretni egy kitalált karaktert. De róla még majd később bővebben is
írni fogok.
Továbbá,
már most újra akarom olvasni ezt a könyvet. Úgy százszor. Már most érzem, hogy
ebből a történetből sosem lesz elég. Már most hiányoznak a karakterek. Annyira
hiányoznak, hogy elkezdtem használni az Audible-tés most a hangoskönyv
változatukat hallgatom a Sinners of Saint könyveknek. Jelenleg a Scandalous van
soron (a sorozat harmadik kötete), és ÚRISTENÚRISTENÚRISTENÚRISTEN EZ
EGYSZERŰEN FENOMENÁLIS. A narrátorok elképesztően zseniálisak. ♥ Csakúgy, mint maga
a történet. ♥ Csak az a baj, hogy most már még izgatottabban várom a következő
All Saints High regények megjelenését.
Leigh,
te egy királynő vagy. A Hothole-ok és a Tothole-ok egy könyvben? Túl sok
forróság és szexiség ez egy könyvben. Ez a könyv teljesen tönkretett engem. Nem
igazán bánom. Csak adj még többet.
A
Pretty Reckless egy KÖTELEZŐ OLVASMÁNY. Egy NAGYON KÖTELEZŐ OLVASMÁNY. Ha még
nem olvastátok volna, csak csináljátok, mire vártok még? Tuti tipp: ha még nem
olvastátok volna a Sinners of Saint sorozatot, akkor nagyon tudom ajánlani ezt
is. Ha az All Saints High előtt olvassátok (alapjában véve az All Saints High a
Sinners of Saint sorozat spin-off-ja), akkor az egész képet látni fogjátok,
csak még élvezhetőbb lesz. Persze enélkül is teljesen érthető minden, abszolút
nem kötelező elolvasni azt a sorozatot. De ki akarná kihagyni azoknak a
nagyszerű karaktereknek a történeteit? Bízzatok bennem, ti sem akarnátok.

Véleményem szerint őrületesen nehéz mindenféle spoiler nélkül beszélni erről a könyvről, de megpróbálom, igyekszem majd elkerülni ezeket. Ahogy már fentebb is említettem, szerintem ez 2019 legjobb regénye (legalábbis eddig), és senkinek sem szeretném még olvasás előtt lespoilerezni az egészet.
Ha már olvastátok a Sinners of Saint sorozatot, akkor már tudjátok, hogy ki is Daria, de ha nem, akkor azt kell tudni róla, hogy ő Jaime és Melody legidősebb lánya. Kettejük történetét a Sinners of Saints előhangjaként olvashatjátok el, a könyv címe Defy. A sorozat további regényeit olvasva már találkozhattunk Daria-val, és szerintem rengeteg olvasó, engem is beleértve, gondolhatta teljesen jogosan azt, hogy ő majd egy rendkívül elkényesztetett kis gazdag hercegnő lesz, akit majd a saját könyvében is éppen csak meg fogunk kedvelni. Szerintem mindannyian eléggé nagyot tévedtünk.
Daria és Penn akkor találkoznak legeslegelőször, amikor még mindketten nagyon fiatalok, és ez a néhány pillanat igencsak intenzívre sikeredett. Tudjátok, van is egy olyan mondás, hogy "az ellentétek vonzzák egymást". Nos, ez ide nagyon is illik, ugyanis ők ketten nem is lehetnének ennél különbözőbbek, de mégis van valami, ami miatt vonzódnak egymáshoz. Ekkor ők ketten csinálnak valamit, ami mindkettejük életét gyökeresen megváltoztatja. Ezután négy teljes éven keresztül egyáltalán nem is találkoznak, viszont a sors újra összehozza őket, de a helyzetük nem éppen mondható problémamentesnek. Nagyon is vonzódnak egymáshoz, de amikor az utálat is a képbe kerül, akkor a vonzalom a háttérbe szorul. Penn bosszút akar állni Daria-n, és jelenleg az a legnagyobb célja, hogy a lányt annyira tönkretegye, amennyire Daria is tönkretette őt. Penn úgy gondolja, hogy Daria csak egy elkényeztetett lány, aki azt tehet, amit csak akar, és mindent megkaphat, amit csak akar. De valójában ez az igazság? Mi történik akkor, amikor Penn meglátja az igazi Daria-t? Mi történik akkor, amikor rájön, hogy ő sokkal több, mint egy gazdag lány, aki a pompom csapat kapitánya, és egyben a legnépszerűbb az egész iskolában? Megtudhatjátok, ha elolvassátok L. J. Kedves olvasók, ez a könyv egyszerűen BÁMULATOS. Tudtam, úgy tudtam, hogy ilyen fenomenális lesz. Minden egyes L. J. Shen könyv fenomenális. Viszont a Pretty Reckless a fenomenális jelentését egy egészen új szintre emeli.
Beszéljünk egy kicsit a borítóról. Csak egy ici-picit. Úristen, én még mindig teljesen oda meg vissza vagyok ezért a borítóért. ♥ Amikor először megláttam, már akkor teljesen szerelmes lettem belé. TELJES TÖKÉLETESSÉG. Egyszerűen nem tudok betelni vele. És aztán Leigh megmutatta nekünk a kötet borítójának legelső változatát és ahh... Őszintén megmondva, ő is azok közé az írók közé tartozik, akiknek mindig olyan nagyon szemgyönyörködtetőek a borítói. Az, amelyikkel megjelent teljesen Sinners of Saint érzést kelt bennem, a legelső verzió pedig a Defy-re emlékeztet. MINDKETTŐT IMÁDOM. Minkét verziót szerettem volna a polcaimon látni.
Ez a könyv már azóta a legjobban várt megjelenésem volt, amióta tudtam, hogy meg fog jelenni a spin-off sorozat. Annyira nagyon vártam azt a pillanatot, amikor elkezdhettem olvasni, és minden egyes képpel, idézettel és részlettel az írónő csak még izgatottabbá tett. És amellett, hogy nagyon izgatott voltam, egyszerűen nem tudtam abbahagyni a montázsok gyártását (amiket itt most ebben az értékelésben láthattok, azokat én csináltam). És miután elolvastam? Nem csalódtam. Egyáltalán nem. Nagyon megérte erre a könyvre várni, és biztos vagyok benne, hogy megéri majd várni a következő kötetekre is. (Azonban, én lennék a legboldogabb, ha ezek is minél hamarabb megjelennének. Addig a napig pedig valószínűleg még vagy ezerszer el fogom olvasni a Pretty Reckless-t.)

He pats the pockets of his jeans, then checks the pockets of his golden Gucci
jacket. “I can’t find it.”
“Can’t
find what?” Esme blinks.
“The
memo where I started taking orders from your sorry ass.”
Ahogy már fentebb is említettem, Daria-t nagyon elítéltük még a könyv megjelenése előtt. Rengeteg olyan posztot láttam, amiben úgy volt leírva, mint egy elkényeztetett hercegnő, és teljesen meg tudtam ezt érteni, és én is azt hittem, hogy ő teljesen ilyen lesz. Már a regény elején nagyon meglepődtem, hiszen csupán néhány oldal elolvasása (ismétlen, csupán néhány oldal) után már nagyon sírtam és a szívem apró darabokra tört Daria-ért. És ez az egész sírós dolog egyáltalán nem múlt el. Ez a könyv tönkretett. Nagyon-nagyon sírtam és nagyon sajnáltam Daria-t. Csak olvastam és olvastam és egyszerűen nem tudtam abbahagyni. Csak olvastam és sírtam és egyszercsak azt vettem észre, hogy már reggel négy óra van, de ez nem is érdekelt, csak folytattam az olvasást. Tudni akartam, hogy mi fog történni velük.
Szóval, rájöttem, hogy nekem muszáj beszélnem néhány jelenetről, viszont ezek erősen spoileresek lehetnek, szóval CSAK AKKOR OLVASSÁTOK EL, HA MÁR BEFEJEZTÉTEK A PRETTY RECKLESS-T. Ha még nem olvastátok, akkor csak ugorjátok át ezeket a részeket. Sajnálom, de tényleg nagyon szeretnék náhány jelenetről beszélni. Ezeket direkt halványabb rózsaszínnel írtam és pluszban ugyanezzel a színnel ki is emeltem, szóval így nem láthatóak, csak akkor, ha ti is végighúzva kiemelitek ezeket a részeket. Viszont ha már olvastátok Daria és Penn történetét és szeretnétek tudni, hogy miről is beszélek, akkor emeljétek ki ezeket a sorokat és akkor el fogjátok tudni olvasni.

Amikor Penn szakít Daria-val... Az a rész annyira megsiratott. Tudtam, hogy miért tette ezt, de azok a szavak, amiket kimondott... Úristen, szegény Daria. Nagyon sírtam. Megértettem, hogy miért kellett azt tennie, amit, de te szentséges jó ég, ez a jelenet annyira szívszorító volt. Oké, értem én, hogy nagyon durvának kellett lennie azért, hogy hiteles legyen, azért, hogy Daria elhiggye, hogy csak kihasználta, de jaj... Szegény szívem. Szegény Daria. És szegény Penn. Úristen, el sem tudom képzelni, hogy milyen nehéz lehetett ez. De szerintem az, hogy ezt meglépte, be is bizonyította, hogy mekkora szíve van, mert csak Daria-t akarta megvédeni. És amikor Vaughn jött és megölelte Daria-t... Valami megtört bennem. Ez a jelenet csak még jobban megsiratott.

Egy ponton már talán azt is hihettük, hogy kettejük kapcsolata mérgező. De szerintem ez sokkal több ennél. Csak szimplán komplikált. De legfőképpen, valóságos. Olyan valóságos.
Csak azt akartam, hogy boldogok legyenek együtt, és hogy megkapák a boldog befejezésüket, és oh meg is kapták. ♥ És ez a jelenet (meglepetés) is megsiratott. Őszintén, nagyon ritka az, amikor éppen nem sírtam. De az biztos, hogy Daria és Penn csodálatos befejezést kaptak. ♥ Több volt, mint tökéletes. Sokkal jobb, mint amire számítottam. Az összes elképzelésemet felülmúlta.
Penn-ről el is felejtettem beszélni. Róla csak elég annyit tudni, hogy Leigh egy újabb elképesztően tökéletlenül tökéletes könyves álompasival örvendeztetett meg minket. Nagyon remélem, hogy a következő regényekben is fel fog tűnni Daria-val együtt. ♥ Annyira nagyszerű párost alkotnak együtt. ♥

Szóval, szerintem a legmegosztóbb karakter ebben a könyvben Mel. Először én nem is tudtam megérteni őt. Sokáig egyáltalán nem is volt szimpatikus. De akkor már majdnem a vége felé jött egy fejezet, ami az ő szemszögéből volt elmesélve, és itt teljesen összetörtem. Az szívem majd megszakadt mindhármukért. Daria, hát, miatta már elég hosszú ideje sírtam. Jaime azzal siratott meg a legjobban, hogy olyan csodálatos és fantasztikus apa, hogy azt el sem tudom mondani. Amikor Daria-t úgy hívja, hogy "the love of my life". Úristen. Ez a pasi egyszerűen elképesztően nagyszerű. És Mel... Hát, nem is tudom. Szerintem itt jött el először az, hogy sajnáltam őt. Az nagyon tetszett, hogy már a vége felé közelebb kerülnek egymáshoz Daria-val, de viszont még mindig nem tartozik a kedvenc karaktereim közé. Olyan vegyes érzéseim vannak ezzel a karakterrel kapcsolatban. Nekem most nincsenek gyerekeim, de el tudom képzelni, hogy néha milyen nehéz is lehet a szülők helyzete, de nem is igazán tudom, Mel olyan... nem is tudom pontosan elmondani, hogy milyen volt nekem. Talán jobban kellett volna figyelnie Daria-ra, meg kellett volna hallgatnia, és akkor lehet, hogy jobb lett volna a kapcsolatuk. Valójában, elég nehéz erről a témáról beszélni.

És most pedig egy picit beszéljünk a főszerepljők szüleikról, hiszen ők jelen vannak egy kis ideig ebben a regényben. Úristen, még mindig annyira szerelmes vagyok ezekbe a karakterekbe. Annyira imádom, hogy ilyen közel állnak egymáshoz, és, hogy ennyire jó szülők lettek, és azt is, hogy ilyen nagyszerű barátok. Jaime még mindig elképesztően csodálatos, és annyira védelmező, gondoskodó, mindenben segíteni akar, amiben csak tud és amennyire csak tud. Vicious, Dean és Trent pedig még mindig nagyon zseniálisak. Csak azt sajnálom, hogy a feleségeikkel nem találkozhattunk ebben a könyvben, de annak nagyon örültem, hogy legalább velük találkozhattunk. Alig várom a következő regények megjelenését. ♥ Főleg már arra vagyok kíváncsi, hogy mit fog szólni Trent ahhoz, hogy a lányát gyengédebb szálak is fűzik egy fiúhoz. Már alig várom, hogy olvashassam. ♥

És most, beszéljünk egy kicsit az All Saints High főszereplőiről. Daria-ról már egészen sokat beszéltem, szóval most lépjünk is a következő karakterre. Még valamit szeretnék mondani, mielőtt továbblépnénk. Daria egy zseniálisan jó főhősnő. Talán az egyik legnagyobb kedvencem. L. J. Shen nagyon is meglepte vele az olvasóit. És én ezért nagyon is hálás vagyok neki. ♥
A Pretty Reckless megjelenése előtt minden olvasó arra volt a legjobban kíváncsi, hogy vajon Luna kivel lesz együtt. Nos, néhány jelentben már láthattuk Luna-t valakivel (nem fogom elmondani, hogy kivel), és ez számomra igazán meglepő volt. De ha engem kérdeztek, akkor szerintem ez az egész szituáció még elég bizonytalan. Viszont Leigh azt mondta, hogy a könyv elolvasása után már tudni foguk, hogy ki lesz Luna párja, szóval talán tényleg az, aki most? Én nem tudom. Minden meg tud változni. Az írónő azt is mondta, hogy május végén megoszt majd velünk néhány információt a következő könyvekkel kapcsolatban, és akkor már minden biztos lesz. Szóval, most csak annyi a dolgunk, hogy várjunk. Még csak a mai nap az első májusi nap, de már most azt akarom, hogy vége legyen.
Luna még mindig az a rejtélyes lány, de már most érzem, hogy az ő története igazán különleges lesz. Knight az a tipikus playboy, de szerintem ennél sokkal több van benne. Szerintem egy igazi lovag lesz a végén. Vaughn szintén még elég rejtélyes, de ő már többször meg is nevettetett (csak olvassátok el az ezután következő idézetet), továbbá, már meg is siratott. Szóval igen, már az ő sztorijára is nagyon kíváncsi vagyok, ami, a Goodreads szerint, a második és egyben a következő lesz. ♥ Knight és Vaughn barátsága igazán különleges, imádtam minden egyes pillanatot, amikor ők ketten egy jelentben voltak, és már alig várom, hogy még többet láthassak ebből.

some reverse psychology Mean Girls shit right there.” Knight points at me with
a piece of carrot and pops it into his mouth.

gazes at him under her lashes, all doe-eyed and ready to charm his pants off. “And

“Not
interested,” he deadpans.
I
smile inwardly, bursting with happiness. Knight is loyal to a fault. Vaughn,
too. Rumor has it, when she smiled at her in the hallway earlier, he breezed
past her, and drawled, “You haven’t earned the right to talk to me yet. Try again
in two months.”
Mindent figyelembe véve, nem is tudom, hogy mit kellene még mondanom. Mindent, amit szerettem volna, már fentebb elmondtam. De csak az ismétlés kedvéért, menjetek és olvassátok ezt a regényt. Elképesztően csodálatos, inspiráló, szívszorító, észveszejtően jó, annyira imádnivaló, annyira szenvedélyes, annyira minden. Megszállottja vagyok ezeknek a karaktereknek és ennek a történetnek. Szinte birtokolnak engem. A függője vagyok ennek a könyvnek és ezeknek a karaktereknek. Köszönöm szépen, nincs szükségem rehabra. Csak még több All Saints High kötetre van szükségem. Csak még többet akarok.

bullshitting about being rich.”
When
someone hits me with a stick, I run over them with a tank. I’m so mean to him I
want to throw up. I hate this part of being me. The striking harder at all
costs part.
“Just
to make things clear.” I put the brush down, batting my lashes. “You’re not my
step-sibling, foster brother, or a part of the family. You’re a stray dog. Last
of the litter, most unlikely to be adopted, and a charity case.”
Penn
takes a step toward me, and my heart is fighting its way out of my ribcage. The
closer he gets, the more I realize that my heart might succeed. Penn’s eyes
remind me of a snake’s. Mesmerizing, but inhuman altogether. They weren’t like
that before.
His
scent messes with my head. I want to reach out and caress his face. Kiss his
wounds better. Beg for forgiveness. Curse him. Push him away. Cry on his
shoulder for what we’ve done. For how it ended. For what we became afterwards,
because I’m full of crap and he is totally empty.
We
ruined ourselves the day of our first kiss.
Penn
looks down at me. Time stops. It feels like the world is losing gravity,
falling into a bottomless depth in space when he clasps my chin with his thumb
and finger, lifting my head up. I can’t breathe. I’m not sure I want to,
either. My towel drops to the floor with a thud, even though I secured it over
my chest. I realize that he tugged at it intentionally. I’m naked. My body, my
soul, my heart. All my walls are down. Somewhere in my head, a red alarm blasts
and my inhibitions are getting armed, ready to fight back. I’m trying to decode
his expression. He is amused, irritated, and…playful? The mixture of emotions
doesn’t make any sense.
“Mess
with me, Followhill, and I will ruin you.”
“Not
if I ruin you first.”

it too early to say that I have found the best book of 2019? Well, maybe it is,
but I can very-very-very honestly say that this book is a MASTERPIECE. Like
this, with capital letters.

Okay,
I need to put myself together to write this review. Or even to write a proper
sentence without too much capslock and swearing. To be honest, it is harder a
lot than I thought it would be.
So,
I have finished reading Pretty Reckless a few days ago and I am still under the
spell of Daria and Penn. And Knight. And Vaughn. And the Hotholes. Gosh, I love
these characters to pieces. I tell the following sentence to everyone I talk
about this book: DADDY JAIME IS THE BEST. Honestly, I didn't event think that
it would be possible to love a character that much. But I will tell you
everything about him later.
Moreover,
I already want to reread this novel. Like, a hundred times. I just can't get
enough of these characters. I already miss them so much. I miss them so much
that I started to use Audible and now I'm listening to the audio versions of
these books. I'm currently listening to Scandalous (third book in Sinners of
Saint series) and OMGOMGOMGOMG THIS IS PHENOMENAL. The narrators are freaking
amazing. ♥ Just as the story. ♥ Now, I am even more excited for the next All
Saints High books.
Leigh,
you are a queen. The Hotholes and the Totholes in one book? Too much hotness
and sexiness. This book totally ruined me for my next reads. I don't really
mind. Just gimme more.
Guys,
Pretty Reckless is a MUST READ. A VERY MUST READ. If you haven't read it yet,
just do it, what are you waiting for? Pro tip: If you haven't read Sinners of
Saint, you should do it too. If you read it before All Saints High (basically,
it it the spin-off of Sinners of Saint) you will get the whole picture and it
is much more enjoyable. And honestly? Who want to miss out on the Hotholes?
Trust me, you don't want to.
Ever
notice how the heart is literally caged by the ribs? That’s insane. As if our
body knows it can break so easily, it needs to be protected.
In my opinion, it is insanely hard to talk about this book without any spoilers, but I will try to do my best. As I have already mentioned, I really do think that this book is the best (at least so far) of 2019, and I do not want to spoil it to anyone. But now, let's jump into the story.
If you have read Sinners of Saint series, you know who is Daria, but if you don't, she is the daughter of Melody and Jaime. Their story was not the easiest, but you can read it, it is Defy, and the prelude to that series. By reading the next books in that series, we could meet Daria several times, and I think lots of readers, including me, thought that she was the mean girl, and in her own book she would be a mega bitch and it would be really hard to even like her. It strikes me that we were pretty wrong.
Daria and Penn meet when they are young, and those first moments are pretty intense. You know there is a saying "Opposites attract." Well, that applies here. They can not be any more different from each other, yet there is something that is pulling them together. They do something together that changes their lives forever. After that, they do not see each other for four years, but fate brings them back together, and their situation gets super complicated. They are attracted to each other, but also, there is hate, and that hate is so strong. Penn wants revenge, and his biggest aim is to ruin Daria as hard as she ruined his life. He thinks that Daria is only a spoiled kid who can do anything she wants and she can get anything she wants. But does it really the truth? What happens when Penn sees the real Daria? What happens when he finds out that she is a hella lot more than a rich girl, the captain of the cheerleader team and the most popular girl in All Saints High? You can find out if you read Pretty Reckless by L. J. Shen. Trust me, it is worth it. If you only have time to read one book right now, please choose Daria and Penn's story. You won't regret that decision.

Dear readers, this book is EPIC. I know this book will be phenomenal. Every single L. J. Shen book is phenomenal. But Pretty Reckless takes the meaning of phenomenal to a whole new level.
Let's just talk a little bit about that cover. Just a tiny bit. OMG I'm still obsessed with it. ♥ When I first saw it, I instantly fell in love with it. IT IS PURE PERFECTION. I just can't get over it. And then Leigh showed us the alternate cover and ahhh... Honestly, she has one of the best covers ever. The original cover gives me all the Sinners of Saint vibes, and the alternate one reminds me the cover of Defy. I ADORE BOTH. I would love to have both.
This book was my most anticipated release since I know that there will be a spin-off to Sinners of Saint. I couldn't wait to read it, and with every single teaser, excerpt, quote and basically everything related to Pretty Reckless, Leigh made me more and more and more curious. And beside making me so freaking excited for this novel, I couldn't stop making teasers. (The ones you see while reading my review are mine.) And after reading it? I am not disappointed. At all. This book is very much worth the wait and I am pretty sure that all book in this series will worth the wait. (However, I would be more than happy if she released the next one soon. Until that day, I will probably reread this one like a thousand times.)

He pats the pockets of his jeans, then checks the pockets of his golden Gucci

find what?” Esme blinks.

As I have already mentioned, Daria was pretty much misjudged. Before the release day of Pretty Reckess, I have seen lots of posts where she was described as a spoiled rich bitch, and honestly, I totally understood them and I thought that she would be that kind of a heroine. I was pretty much surprised when I started reading this book, becuase after reading ust only few pages (I repeat, only few pages), I was crying so hard and my heart broke into tiny pieces for Daria. And that crying thing did not stop. This book ruined me. I was crying like a baby, and I felt sorry for Daria. I was reading it and just couldn't stop. I was reading and crying so hard when I realzied it's already 4 am but I did not care I just went on and read. I just needed to know what will happen with them.
So I realized that I need to talk about some scenes, but those will includes spoilers, so DO NOT READ THESE IF YOU HAVEN'T READ PRETTY RECKLESS. Just skip this part. Sorry guys, but I really need to talk about these. These are written in light pink and highlighted with light pink, so if you read Daria and Penn's story and wanna know what I am talking about, please highlight the text and it will become visible.

When Penn breaks up with her... That scene made me cry so much. I knew why he did that, but his words... OMG poor Daria. I was crying so hard. I understood why he did what he did, but OMFG it was so heartbreaking. Okay, I get it that he needed to be super harsh to make Daria believe him, to believe that he just used her and that's all but oh boy... My poor heart. Daria's poor heart. And Penn's poor heart. OMG I can't even imagine how hard it was. But it really proved that he has such a big heart. And when Vaughn came and hugged Daria... Something broke in me. That scene made me cry even harder.

At one point, we could think that their relationship is toxic. But I think it is much more than that. It is simply complicated. But mostly, it is real. So real.
I just wanted them to be happy together and to get their happily ever after and oh boy they did get it. ♥ And that scene (surprise) also made me cry. Honestly, I was a complete mess while I was reading that book. But I can say that Daria and Penn's story got the perfect ending. ♥ It was more than perfect. More than I hoped for. A lot more than I hoped for. It lived up to all my expectations.
“Some
fairy tales are screwed up,” she adds. She can’t shut up. She’s nervous. Her

In my opinion, the most divisive character in this book is... Wait, it deserves another spoiler alert. So,

So I think that the most divise charater in this book is Mel. At first, I didn't even understand her. I didn't like her for a very long time. But then there was a chapter from her point of view, and it broke me. My heart broke for the three of them. Daria, well I was already crying for so long for her. Jaime made me cry becuase he is such an amazing and fantastic father. When he calls Daria "the love of my life". OMG. This guy is simply amazing. And Mel... I don't know. I think that was the first time I felt sorry for her too. I liked that she is kind of maganges to get close to Daria, but still, she is not my favourite character. I liked that they realize that they have a problem and they try to solve it. So yeah, I have mixed feelings about that character. I don't have any kids right now, but I can imagine that sometimes it is hard to be a parent, but I just don't know, Mel was... I don't know. Maybe she should have paid more attention to Daria, and then their relationship could have been better. Actually, it is a pretty hard topic to talk about.

Let's talk a little bit about the Hotholes. OMG I am still in love with all of them. I love that they are so close to each other, they are all amazing fathers and friends. Jaime is still super wonderful, I love that he is so pretective and caring and wants to help as much as possible and as much as he can. Vicious, Dean and Trent are still super super super mindblowing. Oh I just wanted to see a little their wifes too, that would have been awesome, but I was so happy that we could meet them again. Can't wait for the next books. ♥ And I am so super excited to see how Trent will react to the fact that Luna is interested in a guy. Can't wait to read it. ♥
Oh, I almost forgot to write about Penn. Well, all you need to know is that Leigh gave us another imperfectly perfect book boyfriend. ♥ I really hope that he and Daria will appear in the next novels too, they are so super good together. ♥ They are so amazing together. ♥

And now, let's talk a little bit about the Totholes. OMG GUYS THEY ARE THE BESTS. I have already talked about Daria, so let's move on. One more thing before I go on, she is an amazing heroine. Probably one of my biggest favourites. L. J. Shen surprised us in the best way possible. And I an really thankful for that. ♥
One of the biggest question before the release of Pretty Reckless was that who is Luna's love interest. Well, in some scenes we can see her with a guy (I'm not saying who is he), and it was kinda surprising for me. But if you ask me, it is still a little bit uncertain. But Leigh said that after reading this book we will know it, so maybe he is who he is? I don't know. Everything can change. She also said the she will bring us some news at the end of May, and then we will know everything. So I guess we just have to wait. It's only the 1st day of May but I already want it to end. :D
Luna is still that mysterious girl, but I already feel that I will love her story and that it will be very special. Knight is that tipical playboy, but I think there is a lot more behind that. I think he will be a knight in a shining armor. I am so super excited for his story. Vaughn is also that mysterious type, and he made me laugh so many times (read the quote after this paragraph), and also, he made me cry once. So yeah, I really want to read his book too, which, according to Goodreads, will be the next one. ♥ Knight and Vaughn's friendship is so special, I loved every moment of it, and I can't wait to see more of it.
“That’s
some reverse psychology Mean Girls shit right there.” Knight points at me with
a piece of carrot and pops it into his mouth.
Via
gazes at him under her lashes, all doe-eyed and ready to charm his pants off. “And
you are?”
“Not
interested,” he deadpans.
I
smile inwardly, bursting with happiness. Knight is loyal to a fault. Vaughn,
too. Rumor has it, when she smiled at her in the hallway earlier, he breezed
past her, and drawled, “You haven’t earned the right to talk to me yet. Try again
in two months.”
Taking everything into account, I don't even know what else should I say. I pretty much said everything I wanted above. But just to repeat it, guys, go and read this book. It is extremely amazing, inspiring, heartbreaking, mindblowing, so angsty, so adorable, so everything. I am obsessed with this story and these characters. They own me. I am addicted to this story and these characters. Thank you so much, I don't need rehab. I just need more All Saints High books. Just gimme more.

“I
don’t want you transferring into my school,” I hiss out. Melody would gladly
file a transfer request, and Principal Prichard would salivate over the chance
to snatch him up for our football team.
“That
won’t be a problem. You guys suck so much ass, you have shit-breath.”
“Still
smells better than poverty. You’re poor, right? Your sister was just
bullshitting about being rich.”
When
someone hits me with a stick, I run over them with a tank. I’m so mean to him I
want to throw up. I hate this part of being me. The striking harder at all
costs part.
“Just
to make things clear.” I put the brush down, batting my lashes. “You’re not my
step-sibling, foster brother, or a part of the family. You’re a stray dog. Last
of the litter, most unlikely to be adopted, and a charity case.”
Penn
takes a step toward me, and my heart is fighting its way out of my ribcage. The
closer he gets, the more I realize that my heart might succeed. Penn’s eyes
remind me of a snake’s. Mesmerizing, but inhuman altogether. They weren’t like
that before.
His
scent messes with my head. I want to reach out and caress his face. Kiss his
wounds better. Beg for forgiveness. Curse him. Push him away. Cry on his
shoulder for what we’ve done. For how it ended. For what we became afterwards,
because I’m full of crap and he is totally empty.
We
ruined ourselves the day of our first kiss.
Penn
looks down at me. Time stops. It feels like the world is losing gravity,
falling into a bottomless depth in space when he clasps my chin with his thumb
and finger, lifting my head up. I can’t breathe. I’m not sure I want to,
either. My towel drops to the floor with a thud, even though I secured it over
my chest. I realize that he tugged at it intentionally. I’m naked. My body, my
soul, my heart. All my walls are down. Somewhere in my head, a red alarm blasts
and my inhibitions are getting armed, ready to fight back. I’m trying to decode
his expression. He is amused, irritated, and…playful? The mixture of emotions
doesn’t make any sense.
“Mess
with me, Followhill, and I will ruin you.”
“Not
if I ruin you first.”
