THE PUPPET
Borrow the bike. Win the race. Collect the cash. It should've been an easy job. Ran out of town with a broken leg and a lawsuit, my mother's latest flame swoops in like a knight in gilded armor. Blackwood Keep is a place I don't belong, and I'm not the only one who knows. To the boy across the hall, my savior's only son, I'm a stray looking for a bone.
He's lord of the manor.
King of the academy.
And number one on my shit list.

THE PEER
I have no intentions of becoming a happy family with the social climber and her wild daughter. A bottle of Jameson and a cracked skull gets my problem shipped to reform school, but I didn't bank on her returning.
Four's out to get even, and she almost had the perfect plan: expose the privileged kid moonlighting as a gangbanger. She's smart, but she'll have to be smarter. Sending her away won't be good enough this time. I'm going to have to tame the little troublemaker. To the girl across the hall, the one without a name, I'm nothing without my silver spoon.
She's lady of the trailer park.
Queen of the swamps.
And my new favorite pastime.

The Peer and the Puppet is a standalone romance, however, the series is one story. The plot introduced in Four and Ever's story will continue in the following novels. Content suitable for 18+.

„Once upon a puppet, she spun a tale to the mad king.
- The Peer”

Ez a könyv...
Ez a könyv egyszerűen zseniális. Annyira jó, hogy el sem tudom mondani. Lenyűgöző. Izgalmas. Teljesen levett a lábamról. Nagyon-nagyon imádom ezt a regényt. Elképesztően izgatott voltam, amikor az írónő bejelentette a megjelenését, alig vártam, hogy végre olvashassam. Abszolút megérte várni rá.

„You’re playing a dangerous game, Four.” (…) „Cross him an inch and he’ll go a mile to ruin you.”

„If you got demons waiting for you, it’s time you faced them.”

„Once upon a puppet, the peer awaited her in his chambers.”

Indulhat a játszma!

„I’m starting to believe you being in Blackwood Keep wasn’t God or some deity’s sense of humor. It’s fate, baby.”

The Peer and the Puppet című könyvet, akkor mire vártok?

„You run from your demons. I chase mine.”

Mindent egybevéve, B. B. Reid The Peer and the Puppet című regénye egy műalkotás, rendkívül jól megnyitja a sorozatot, lezárja a történetet, de mégis egy kicsit nyitva hagyja.
Sőt, többet is tudnék.

BETEKINTÉS A REGÉNYBE
THE PUPPET
I WAS HAVING a dream. A very good dream. A dream I’d never in a million years admit to having under any circumstances. Not even torture.
Sadly, my dream ended, and I was jarred awake drenched in sweat. The T-shirt I’d worn to bed was bunched around my waist, showing off my cotton panties. I blushed when I recalled in vivid detail what caused such disarray.
And then I froze when I realized I wasn’t alone.
A quick glance at the foot of my bed showed a figure in dark clothing leaning forward with his forearms casually resting on his knees. The scream that tore from my lips was silenced when the figure leaned over and calmly rested his palm over my mouth.
“My father is a light sleeper,” Ever calmly warned. “And I’m sure you don’t want to explain to your mom why I’m in your bedroom at three in the morning.” My heart continued to race even after he lifted his hand, but I didn’t scream. “Good girl.”
“Why are you here?” I hissed while scrambling to pull down the T-shirt still bunched around my waist. I lifted the comforter I must have kicked away in my sleep and covered my lower half.
Oh, God, he’d seen everything. I felt like I had been caught red-handed considering he’d been the one I’d—
Fuck my life.
“You told my father I went to the store for deodorant.”
“And?” I sounded as exasperated as I felt.
“He didn’t buy your story.”
I could imagine considering he was sitting in my room fully dressed at three in the morning. It didn’t take seven hours to buy deodorant.
“Not. My. Problem.”
“But it is. We made this deal together, and we’ll honor it…together.”
I sighed. “So, what did he do to your highness? Take a spoon?” I mocked.
“Grounded,” he grunted.
“Poor you.”
I didn’t expect his smile. It was soft. Indulging. My overly large T-shirt had slipped from my shoulder, so he trailed his finger over my skin. “I’ll have to punish you, Four.”
“Punish me?” That was laughable. “I’m not your child.”
“No, swamp girl. You’re a puppet. My puppet.” He stood from my bed and headed for the door. “If I’m grounded, so are you.”
I told myself I was still dreaming and that he wasn’t actually saying these words. “What does that even mean?”
“It means I’ll have fun anyway.”
Too exhausted to argue, I sighed and met his gaze. “Get out of my room, McNamara.” I thought there was nothing else he could say or do until his parting words.
“You sound lovely when you come, Archer.”

“Once upon a puppet, she spun a tale to the mad king.
- The Peer”

This book...
This book is genious. Amazing. Exciting. OMG, I love-love-love it so much. I was super excited when she announced this novel and the whole series, I couldn't wait to read it. It was worth the wait. Totally.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Four.” (…) „Cross him an inch and he’ll go a mile to ruin you.”

The heroine is Four Archer (The Puppet), whose dream is to be a professional racer. She is really talented, wons several races, really loves riding and basically anything about motorcycles. She is young, but she is unstoppable. Until one day...
Her mother decides that she and Four have to move to her current boyfriend's house right now. And that is when she meets one of the best bookish male characters, Ever McNamara (The Peer). Yes, he is A-MA-ZING.

“If you got demons waiting for you, it’s time you faced them.”

Ever doesn't like Four. More exactly, he is kinda hates her from the moment he lays eyes on her. He doesn't like his father's decision, doesn't want Four and her mother in their house. He is intriguing, quite a bad boy, mysterious, sometimes he can be a jerk, but you will love him. No, you'll adore him. Yes, he makes some mistakes, but he is such a good guy, has so many feelings, he is very caring, however, he does not like to show that side of him.

“Once upon a puppet, the peer awaited her in his chambers.”

Their situation gets more complicated when they realize that their rooms are next to each other, moreover, they have to share a bathroom too, that leads to difficult times. Also, they both attend to the same high school. So, if they want it or not, they spend a lot of time together and meet often.
The chemisty is there, they can't deny it. They are both attracted to each other, but don't want to admit it either. Ever thinks that he does not need Four in his life, she is a distraction for him, and he wants to get rid of her as soon as possible, and that leads to a rough night, and a more rough year for Four. A year later, Four is back in Blackwood Keep, and she does not forget what Ever did. She wants revenge. Game is on, and it's such an interesting game when rivals play...

“I’m starting to believe you being in Blackwood Keep wasn’t God or some deity’s sense of humor. It’s fate, baby.”

Dear everyone, if you haven't read anything by B. B. Reid, what are you waiting for? She is so amazing and a very talented author. The Peer and the Puppet is a book that worth reading, but be careful, because once you start reading it, you won't be able to put it down. I also stayed up almost all night to read it, this book is unputdownable.
Four and Ever (I love how their name match ♥) is one of the best couples I have ever read about. They are perfectly imperfects. Four is so badass, tendentious, strong-minded and powerful, and Ever...  Ever is a characters that at first you'll hate, then later you can't even decide if you like him or not, and really soon you will totally in love with him.
Now, let me talk you a little bit about the side characters. They are A-WE-SO-ME. They have interesting backgrounds, I see lots and lots of opportunities in them. I'm super excited to continue this series, this whole story is so amazing and full with secrets, I can't wait to read more and more and find answers to my questions.
Last, but not least, my opinion about the cover: I adore it. I love those colours, and that model... Those lips! Irresistibles. Kissables. I like that on the full wrap of the cover we can see both main characters, I think they are good and perfectly illustrates Ever and Four.

“You run from your demons. I chase mine.”

Taking everything into account, The Peer and the Puppet by B. B. Reid is a masterpiece, a really good way to start a series, I'm so excited for the next books, I'm 100% sure that I will read them. This novel is very well written, the author did a really good job, she created amazing characters. I love them and can't wait to find out what happens with them. I highly recommend it to readers, who love romance novels, which are interesting, exciting, full of passion and a little bit of mystery.
It is not a question for me, I'll honestly give it five starts, but I would give a lot more. Read it. Just do it. You'll love it.
