Cora Reilly The Camorra Chronicles című sorozatának köteteinek borítói nemrég egy teljes átalakuláson estek át, és sajnos azt kell mondjam, még mindig borzasztóan csalódott vagyok.

Őszintén megmondva, amikor az írónő a Facebook olvasói csoportjában bejelentette, hogy borítóátalakuláson fognak átesni ezek a könyvek, én azt hittem, hogy valami olyasmi új külsőt fognak kapni, mint a Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles sorozat borítói. Tehát valami igazán látványos, absztrakt gyönyörűségeket vártam. Ehelyett viszont ismét fekete-fehér modelles borítókat kaptunk.

Már számos korábbi bejegyzésben kifejtettem, hogy mi is ezekkel a problémám. Bennem egyszerűen azt az érzést kelti, hogy ki lett választva egy kép, azt gyorsan fekete-fehérré alakították, rárakták az író nevét és a könyv címét, és kész is vagyunk. Számomra ezek annyira nincsenek átgondolva, semmi különleges nincs bennük, manapság már majdcsak minden második romantikus regénynek ilyen a borítója, lassan már meg sem lehet őket különböztetni egymástól.

Ezeknek az új külsőknek a kapcsán azt nem értem, hogy ha az írónő a Twisted Bonds esetében is megtartotta azt, hogy női modellt rak a borítóra, akkor mondjuk a Twisted Pride-dal miért nem ez a helyzet? Arról meg már inkább ne is beszéljünk, hogy az a modell véleményem szerint egyáltalán nem megfelelő Remo ábrázolására. Na, nem mintha a többi borító modelljéről mást tudnék mondani.

Nem egészen értem, hogy mi szükség volt erre a változásra, szerintem az eredeti borítók sokkal jobbak voltak. Megannyi olyan kis részletet lehet észrevenni a régi borítókon, amelyeknek a későbbiekben fontos szerepe lesz, viszont az új borítókon csak ott vannak a modellek, és lényegében ennyi. Bármelyik más könyvre is rárakhatnánk ezen borítók valamelyikét.

Tudom, hogy nem szabadna a borító alapján ítélkeznem, de most az kell mondjam, hogy ha nem olvastam volna a sorozatot, és most látnám először ezeket a könyveket, akkor nem biztos, hogy elfogna engem az a bizonyos nekem márpedig ez kell érzés.

The Camorra Chronicles books by Cora Reilly has received brand new covers, and unfortunately I must say that I am utterly disappointed.

To be completely honest, when Cora first announced the cover change in her Facebook reader group, I thought that we would get covers similar to the new look of the Born in Blood Marfia Chronicles books. So yeah, I expected breathtakingly gorgeous abstract covers. But instead of these, we got black and white covers with models.

I have written many, many times about why I do not like this type of covers. These just make me feel that they picked a picture, made it black and white, slapped on the title and the name of the author, and then called it a day. Covers like these look like they did not think through the concept, they are not unique at all, nowadays every second cover looks like these, it is almost impossible to differentiate these from each other.

I do not understand why Cora did not pick a woman for the cover of Twisted Pride, originally she had a woman on the cover of Twisted Bonds and she picked another woman for the new cover too, that is why I still can not understand why she picked a male model for Twisted Pride. Not to mention the fact that this guy is absolutely not Remo. Not that the other models acutally represent the characters.

I still do not really understand the need for this change, I think the original ones were a lot better. You can see many little details that will make sense later in the story, but on the new covers... well you can see some models, end of the story. You could put these covers on any other book, there is nothing special about them.

I know I should not judge a book by its cover, but if I had not read these novels, and if I had just seen them, I do not really think I would feel that I just need to read these books as soon as possible.
