Scarlett írónő munkásságára először a Blackest Gold című sorozata miatt figyeltem
fel már több mint két évvel ezelőtt. A sorozat köteteinek borítói teljesen
levettek a lábamról, a fülszöveg szinte az első pár sorával teljesen megvett magának.
Egy kicsit aggódtam, hogy is fog nekem majd tetszeni, mivel én nem igazán
szoktam olyan könyveket olvasni, amelyekben harmadik személyes narrációval van
végig vezetve a történet, de Molly és Tensley izgalmakkal teli sztorija képes
volt olyan szinten beszippantani, hogy szinte lélegzetvisszafogva olvastam, az írónő minden egyes fejezettel képes meglepetést okozni. Nagyon olvastatja magát a történet, szinte észre sem veszed, és már vége is van. A Blakest Gold egy olyan könyvsorozat, amit ha egyszer elkezdesz olvasni, akkor addig nem leszel képes másba belekezdeni, amíg a legutolsó sort el nem olvastad. És még akkor is többet szeretnél, egyszerűen nem akarod elhagyni azt a világot. Annyit még had mondjak el itt, hogy ha szeretitek a paranormális romantikus regényeket, akkor érdemes ennek a sorozatnak is adni egy esélyt, én őszintén hiszem, hogy nem fogtok benne csalódni.
Én a Blackest Gold befejezése után találtam rá az írónő egy másik alkotására, a Filthy Gods-ra, ami az American Gods című sorozatnak a bevezető novellája. Nathaniel és Juliette története így teljesen egyedül is tökéletesen helyt tud állni. Bár személy szerint, amikor én először olvastam ezt a kötetet, akkor az utolsó sor elolvasása után csak azt éreztem, hogy csak még többet és még többet akarok, és még mindig alig várom, hogy olvashassam a sorozat folytatásait. Nemrég ismét sort kerítettem egy Filthy Gods újraolvasásra, ez volt az első 2021-es olvasmányom, és azt kell, hogy mondjam, hogy ez a könyv még mindig annyira jó, mint amikor először olvastam. ❤ Minden egyes újraolvasással képes lenyűgözni.

Monroe, egy igazán lelkiismeretes, határozott, kitartó lány, aki igazán
szenvedélyesen érdeklődik a történelem, a politika és a társadalmi kérdések iránt, igazán érdekes
és elgondolkodtató megjegyzéseket tud fűzni minden témához.
Fiatal
kora ellenére rengeteg szörnyű dolgon kellett már átesnie. Édesapját sosem ismerte, édesanyja elhunyt, fiatalkorát örökbefogadó családoknál
töltötte, egyik családból került a másikba, sosem töltött hosszabb időt egy
helyen sem, egyiküknél sem sikerült nyugalomra és szeretetre lelnie. Juliette-nek
mindenért nagyon meg kellett küzdenie az életben, minden egyes apróbb kis
sikerért is szinte vért kellett izzadnia, de annak a sok erőfeszítésnek is
meglett a gyümölcse, hiszen elérte élete egyik legnagyobb sikerét, sikerült
bekerülnie a Yale jogi karára. Nem engedi, hogy bárki is a céljai elérésének
útjába álljon, azonban nagyon úgy tűnik, hogy egy apróbb hiba miatt az egyik
legféltettebb titkára akár fény is derülhet. Ezt viszont Juliette nem engedheti
meg magának, semmi szüksége sincs most még több bonyodalomra, és képes bármire,
hogy ez a titok két ember között maradhasson. Közte, és egyik legnagyobb
’ellensége’, Nathaniel Radcliffe között.

Azt
nyugodtan kijelenthetjük, hogy Nathaniel nagyon más körülmények között nőtt
fel, mint Juliette. A lánnyal ellentétben neki sosem kellett nélkülöznie,
gazdag családból származik, a szülei sikeres üzletemberek, mind a ketten
hatalmas sikereket értek el a saját területükön, és a ’befolyásos’ szó is
teljesen tökéletesen jellemzi őket. Nathaniel szüleinek más és más elképzelésük
van a fiuk jövőjéről, mind a ketten különböző pozíciókban szeretnék látni a őt.
Nathaniel
szintén a Yale hallgatója, ez a felsőoktatási intézmény hozzá hasonló tehetős
és sikeres szülők gyermekeivel van tele. Ha valaki ösztöndíjjal kerül be, azt a
gazdagabb háttérből származó hallgatók nem igazán fogadják szeretettel, hiszen ők
úgy gondolják, hogy nem közéjük valóak.
Nathaniel
és Juliette a Yale legkiemelkedőbb hallgatói, folyton versenyeznek egymással,
hogy melyikőjük is valójában a legjobb. Azonban amikor Nathaniel leleplezi Juliette
legféltettebb titkát, akkor egy választás elé állítja a lányt, amivel kezdetét
veszi egy szenvedélyes nyári románc is. De vajon mindez tényleg csupán egy
nyári románc, és semmi több? Megtudhatjátok, ha elolvassátok R. Scarlett
American Gods című sorozatának bevezető történetét, a Filthy Gods-t.

A Filthy Gods szerintem egy igazán érdekfeszítő bevezetése lett egy igazán ígéretes sorozatnak. Juliette és Nathaniel nagyszerű párost alkotnak, végig annyira drukkoltam, hogy legyenek végre egy pár. Minden egyes közös pillanatukat ábrándos tekintettel olvastam végig. ❤ Imádtam a szóváltásaikat és azt, ahogy különböző témákról vitáztak, bárcsak ebből többet is kaphattunk volna. Juliette egy igazán nagyszerű főhősnő, kitartásával kiváló példát mutathat minden olvasónak, ő tökéletesen megmutatja azt, hogy a múlt az nem minden, és hogy a kemény munka mindig meghozza a gyümölcsét. Nathaniel egy nagyon sok szenvedéllyel megfűszerezett úriember. Ő tipikusan az a karakter, akit a történet elején még nagyon utálsz, de ugyanakkor a szíved legmélyén te is tudod, hogy nagyon is imádod, és már alig várod, hogy minden egyes jelenetben újra meg újra feltűnjön. Szóval igen, ő lesz az, akit majd utálsz szeretni. De azt elhihetitek nekem, hogy ez a novella végére nagyon is meg fog változni, és az tuti, hogy tetőtől talpig bele fogtok esni. Én szóltam. ;) Ő egy igazán felejthetetlen karakter, rajta egyáltalán nem lesz olyan könnyű túltenni, legalábbis nekem nem sikerült, de őszintén nem is akarok túltenni rajta. Az az epilógus... ELALÉLOK. ❤ most képzeljetek ide vagy száz szivecskés szemű emojit Túl korai lenne most még egyszer újraolvasni a Filthy Gods-t?
Mivel ez a kis novella a felvezetése az American Gods sorozatnak, így természetesen az sem maradhatott el, hogy megismerjük a sorozat névadóit. Gabe, James és Arsen is megjelenik ebben a történetben, viszont nem sok szerepet kapnak. Ettől eltekintve, Arsen igazán nagy kedvencem lett. Szerintem úgy egy mondatot mondhatott az egész könyvben, de én csak úgy voltam vele, hogy... nekem ennyi elég is, kellesz nekem. Fogalmam sincs, hogy miért van ez, de a könyvekben valahogy mindig az olyan pasik keltik fel a figyelmemet, akik olyan veszélyesebbnek és rejtélyesebbnek tűnnek. Arsen pedig pont ilyen, szóval számomra nem olyan nagy meglepetés, hogy az ő regényét várom a legjobban. ❤

Mindent
figyelembe véve, R. Scarlett Filthy Gods című regénye egy szösszenetnyi kis csoda, egy édes és egyben szenvedélyes novella, amitől garantáltan felgyorsul a szívverésed. Telis-tele van érdekesebbnél-érdekesebb karakterekkel, és higyjetek nekem, amikor azt mondom, hogy ha a végére értetek, akkor azt fogjátok érezni, hogy belőlük sosem elég. Rebecca ezzel a regénnyel ismét bebizonyította, hogy mennyire is tehetséges, az írásmódja egyszerűen lenyűgöző. Ha szeretitek az olyan történeteket, amelyekben először utálják egymást a karakterek, de később ebből az utálatból szerelem lesz, akkor nagyon tudom nektek ajánlani a Filthy Gods-t.

R. Scarlett and her books caught my attention like more than two years ago, my first read by Rebecca was her Blackest Gold series. The covers for this series totally took my breath away, and the blurbs swept me off my feet, so of course I had to give a try to her books, and I am so glad I did it, she quickly became one of my biggest favourite authors, and I have been rereading her books to this day. To be honest, before I started to read Blackest Gold I was super worried because usually I do not really read books that are written from a third person point of view, but let me tell you that Molly and Tensley’s story is so addictive, it literally pulled me in so hard, I did not want to leave this world at all. These books had me breathlessly turn the pages, Rebecca managed to surprise me with each and every one of the chapters, I could not believe my eyes! Back then I wished that I found those books a lot earlier, and I still do wish it. It is definitely a series you want to binge read, it is so easy to read it, you do not even notice you reach the end. Blackest Gold is a super addictive series, and once you start to read it, you will not be able to read anything else until you read its last sentence. And even then you might face a book hangover. You won’t want to leave this world, you won’t want to say goodbye to this character, you just want more and more and more. One more thing: if you love paranormal romances, please give this series a chance, trust me, you will love it, I really believe that you won’t be disappointed.
After I finished reading Blackest Gold, I found Rebecca’s other masterpiece, which is Filthy Gods, the prelude in the American Gods series. Nathaniel and Juliette’s story is a complete standalone, but if you ask me, after I finished it, I only wanted more. I just could not get enough of it. I have reread Filthy Gods again, it was my first read of 2021, and I am still so ready for more. ❤ It totally amazed me when I first read it, and since then it keeps on amazing me again and again.

The heroine of Filthy Gods is Juliette
Monroe, a pretty conscientious, determined and hard-working young lady, who
is passionately interested in history, politics and social issues, she can talk basically
about anything with anyone, and her comments about these topics are always very
interesting and thought-provoking.
She is very young, but unfortunately she already had to go through many terrible things. Her father has never been a part of her life, her mother died, and since then, no one was constant in her life. Until she reached that certain age, she had to live with foster parents, she often had to leave and move to one family from the other, she has never really spent a longer time in any of these places, she has never found people who would love or at least care about her. She has always had to fight and work very hard for everything in her life, and she was rewarded for her efforts, she got what she wanted, she became a law student at Yale. She will not let anyone distract her from reaching her goals, however, it seems like someone find out what is her big secret, but Juliette can not let anyone else find out the truth, she does not need any drama or complication in her life. She is willing to do basically anything to keep her secret a secret between herself and that person, who is none other than her ’enemy’, the one and only, Nathaniel Radcliffe.

We
can say that Nathaniel grew up under completely different circumstances, his past is entirely different from Juliette’s. His family have never had any financial problems, he has a very affluent background, both of his parents are succesful business people, they have achieved many-many things in their own fields, I think if I had to pick only one word to describe Nathaniel’s parents, I would pick the word ’influental’, and I think it suits them very well, and it can give you a great picture about their personalities. His mom and dad both imagine a very different future for Nathaniel, they both want to see their son thrive in positions.
Nathaniel is a student at Yale too, many people who is in a similiar situation, so comes from rich families, attend this institution of higher education. If someone gets in with a scholarship, he or she is usually not welcomed by the other students, because they think that if they are not in the same circles as they are, then they should not be associated with them either.
Nathaniel and Juliette are one of the best students of Yale, and they are always competing with each other to find out who is the smartest out of the two of them. However, one day, Nathaniel discovers Juliette’s carefully kept secret, he offers a deal to her, and that is when their passionate summer affair begins. But when this summer comes to an end, will this fling remain only a fling, or will it turn into something more? Read Filthy Gods, the prelude to the American Gods series, and find out what happens in the end of this super hot and steamy novella by R. Scarlett.

Personally, I do believe that Filthy Gods is an intriguing prelude to a very promising romance series. Juliette and Nathaniel are really wonderful together, I was so rooting for them to finally and officially become a couple. I really adored their banter, I just wish we would see more of it in this book. I was reading each and every scene they spend together with dreamy eyes. ❤ Juliette can be an excellent and very inspiring role model for many readers, she shows us that the past does not define us, and that hard-work is always rewarding. Nathaniel is a gentleman with a very passionate side. He is typically a guy whom you kinda hate at the beginning, but at the same time you love him and can not wait for him to appear in every scene again, so yeah, he is definitely a character whom you hate to love. But I can promise you, by the end of the book, you will fall head over heels in love with him. I warned you. ;) He might just ruin you for every other bookish hero, you can not just forget about him and move on. Or at least I could not just move on, but to be honest I do not even want to, I am way too much in love with this story. That epilogue... SWOON. ❤ insert like a hundred heart eyes emojis here Is it too early to reread Filthy Gods again?
Because it is the prelude to the American Gods series, of course in this book we meet the American Gods themselves. Gabe, James and Arsen are all introduced in this story, however, they do not have a huge role in it. Tho, Arsen quickly became my biggest favourite. He literally had like one single sentence in this novella and I was like... yeah I want you. I honestly do not know why, but I am always attracted to and super interested in bookish heroes who are mysterious and seems dangerous. Arsen is exactly a guy like that, so I was not really surprised that I am incredibly excited for his book. ❤

Taking
everything into account, Filthy Gods by R. Scarlett is a short, sweet and steamy novella that will make your heart beat faster. It is filled with very fascinating characters and trust me when I say that when you finish it, you just feel you can not get enough of them. Rebecca proves it with this book that she is an excellent author, her writing style is very compelling. If you love enemies to lovers, then Filthy Gods is a must read for you.
