Rebecca Jenshak Campus Nights című sorozata teljesen magával ragadott, egyszerűen nem tudok betelni az írónő sportos-romantikus történeteivel. A Valley U karakterei a szívemhez nőttek, ezért nagyon is örültem neki, hogy számos általam kedvelt Campus Nights szereplőről bővebben is olvashatunk majd a Campus Wallflowers kötetekben.
Véleményem szerint Jordan egy igazán felejthetetlen srác, bíztam benne, hogy őt a jövőben közelebbről is megismerhetjük. És ez meg is történt, a Tutoring the Player-nek ő az egyik főszereplője. Úgy vágtam bele magam Daisy és Jordan történetének olvasásába, hogy én bizony most egy új kedvencet fogok avatni, azonban sajnos most azt kell mondanom, hogy ennek a könyvnek nem sikerült hoznia a Campus Nights szintjét.

A Tutoring the Player női főszereplője Daisy Johnson. Daisy egy igen félénk lány, aki áhítattal figyeli a népszerűek körébe tartozó diáktársait, legfőképpen egy fiúról (Liam) nem tudja levenni szemeit, de eddig még nem volt mersze közeledni kiszemeltje felé. Azonban egy váratlan fordulatnak köszönhetően egy fizika csoportba kerül vele, és a fiú legjobb barátjával, Jordan-nel.
Jordan Thatcher-t már a Campus Nights kötetekben is egy szívtipróként ismerhettük meg, azonban ebben a kötetben betekintést nyerhetünk az érzelmesebb oldalába is. Évekkel ezelőtt hatalmas veszteség érte, és ez igencsak rányomta a bélyeget a fiú életfelfogására. Jelenleg az egyetem jégkorong csapatában játszik, lányok társaságát élvezi, bulizik, élvezi az élet minden pillanatát.
Jordan és Daisy nem is különbözhetnének jobban egymástól. De tudjátok, úgy tartja a mondás, hogy az ellentétek vonzzák egymást.

Amióta elkezdtem romantikus könyveket olvasni, jópár alkalommal került már olyan a kezeim közé, amelyben arról olvashatunk, hogy a szégyenlős, okos lány korrepetálja a suli népszerű sportolóját. A legtöbb ezek közül hasonló sémára épül fel, viszont Rebecca Jenshak ezen alkotásának esetében nem ez a helyzet, kifejezetten tetszett, hogy egy kicsit másképpen közelítette meg ezt a témát.
Daisy-vel sokáig nagyon nehezen tudtam azonosulni, ami azért nagyon érdekes, mert én is inkább a félénkebb lányok táborát erősítem. A könyv olvasása előtt ezért is hittem azt, hogy nagyon gyorsan meg fogom kedvelni a Tutoring the Player női főszereplőjét, de sajnos épp az ellenkezője történt. Valahogy mindig jobban érdekelt, hogy mi történik a lakótársaival, mint az, hogy mi a helyzet Daisy-vel. Bőven voltak neki is jó pillanatai, de nem mondanám, hogy nagyon lenyűgözött. Az, hogy ennyire nagy rajongással volt a népszerűek felé egyszerűen csak egy kicsit túl sok volt nekem.
Jordan-t a történet elején nem igazán szerettem, de ahogy haladtam az olvasással, úgy egyre jobban sikerült megkedvelnem. Annyira édes volt, amikor igyekezett visszanyerni Daisy szívét. Ezelőtt is látni lehetett, mennyire figyelmes, de ezen tulajdonságát igazán itt csillogtatta meg.
Daisy és Jordan szerintem kifejezetten jók és hihetetlenül cukik együtt. Azt viszont szerintem jó lett volna tudni még olvasás előtt, hogy Daisy konkrétan a történet egyharmadában nem is Jordan-hez, hanem a fiú legjobb barátjához, Liam-hez vonzódik. Annyira nem szeretek olyan könyveket olvasni, amelyekben a női főszereplő sokáig más iránt érdeklődik, szóval alig vártam, hogy ez a rész lezáródjon. Rendesen aggódtam, hogy úristen, mi lesz, ha Liam és Daisy tényleg összejönnek? Elég sokáig nyugtalanított ennek a lehetősége, szóval ez nekem sokat elvett az olvasási élményemből.
Liam már a Campus Nights kötetekben is az egyik legkedvencebb mellékszereplőm volt, így nagyon örültem neki, hogy ebben a regényben is szerepet kapott. (Annak már kevésbé, hogy úgy, mint Daisy rajongásának tárgya.) Már akkor is mihelyst feltűnt egy-egy jelenetben, teljesen odavoltam érte, nagyon felkeltette az érdeklődésemet. És ebben a történetben csak még jobban sikerült belopnia magát a szívembe. ! SPOILER VESZÉLY ! Az, hogy Liam meleg, egy váratlan fordulat volt, de Cole-lal annyira imádnivalóak együtt, remélem, hogy a jövőben bővebben is olvashatunk majd még róluk. ! VÉGE A SPOILER RÉSZLEGNEK !
A Jordan és Daisy között végbemenő nagy konfliktusból szerintem nagyobb probléma lett csinálva, mint kellett volna, én úgy gondolom, hogy Daisy egy kicsit túlreagálta a helyzetet. Őszintén megmondva, sejteni lehetett, hogy lesz valamiféle félreértés kettejük között, de én egészen sokáig azt hittem, hogy ennek teljesen más lesz a kiváltója. Szóval, ha így nézzük, akkor ilyen szempontból is sikerült meglepnie az írónőnek, de ennek ellenére úgy gondolom, hogy nagyobb feneket kerített neki, mint kellett volna.

Mindent figyelembe véve, Rebecca Jenshak Tutoring the Player című alkotása egy aranyos, szerethető kis olvasmány, de sajnos nem lett a kedvencem. Ennek ellenére izgatottan várom a Campus Wallflowers további köteteinek megjelenését, biztosan folytatni fogom a sorozat olvasását.

I was completely blown away by the Rebecca Jenshak’s Campus Nights series, and since then, I simply can not get enough of her college sport romances. The Valley U characters have a special place in my heart, and this is the reason why I was so happy when I found out that they would be returning in her newest series titled Campus Wallflowers.
While I was reading Campus Nights, I found Jordan an unforgettable character, and I was hoping we would get to read more about him in the future. And it happened, he is the hero of Tutoring the Player. Because I like this authors work so much, I had high expectations for this book, I was diving into Daisy and Jordan’s story hoping it would be one of my newest favourite, but unfortunately I must say that it is not as good as the Campus Nights books.

The heroine of Tutoring the Player is Daisy Johnson. Daisy is a pretty shy girl, and she is really fascinated by the popular students of the college, and particularly by a boy, whose name is Liam. So far, Daisy have not had the courage to talk to him, but thanks to an unexpected turn of events, she gets placed into a group with him and his best friend, Jordan.
If you decide to read the Campus Nights series, you have the oppotunity to meet the womanizer Jordan Thatcher. However, in this novel, we get to see his emotional side too. A few years ago, he suffered a terrible loss, and it had a huge impact on his life. Currently, he is the member of the colleges hockey team, girls are basically fawning over him, he is invited to and attends parties, so he is basically enjoying life to the fullest.
Jordan and Daisy could not be more different from each other. But you know, according to the saying, opposites do attract each other.
What kind of effect will this lab project have on Daisy and Jordan? You can find out if you decide to read Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak.

Since I have started to read romance novels, I have picked up quite a few opposites attract ones, in which I could read about the shy, smart girl tutoring and falling for the popular jock. Most of these are based on the same pattern, however, Rebecca Jenshak managed to spice this up a little bit with an unexpected twist, and I liked that she approached this trope from a different perspective.
For a long time, I found it really hard to relate to and like Daisy. For me, it was a pretty strange feeling, because just as her, I am also more like a shy girl. That is why before I started reading this novel I thought that I would instantly relate to the heroine of Tutoring the Player, but unfortunately it did not happen. For some reason, while I was reading it, I was more invested in the stories of her roommates, than in Daisy’s situation. Do not get me wrong, she had some amazing scenes too, but I just did not really like her. Her obsession with the popular crowd was just a little bit too much for me.
In the beginning of the story, well let’s just say that Jordan is not the most likeable character, but as the story progresses, he made me fall deeply in love with him. He is super adorable while he is trying to win back Daisy. It is very obvious that he is super considerate even before that happens, but these scenes just proves how much he loves her.
In my opinion, Daisy and Jordan are really good together, they make such a cute couple. Although, it would have been nice to know before I started to read their story that in a big chunk of the book, Daisy is attracted to Jordan’s best friend, whose name is Liam. I do not really like to read stories like this, so I was impatiently waiting for this part to end. The possibility of Daisy and Liam becoming a couple made me so worried, and it took a lot away from the enjoyment of the novel.
Liam was one of my favourite side characters in the Campus Nights novels, so the fact that he appears in quite a few scenes in Tutoring the Player made me incredibly happy. (However, I still do not like that in the beginning he is Daisy’s love interest.) I was so fascinated with him, and in the first installment of the Campus Wallflowers series, he just simply stole my heart, he is definitely one of the highlights of this story. ! SPOILER ALERT ! We find out in this book that Liam is gay, and that was an unexpected turn of events, but him and Cole are just aww so adorable together, I really hope we will be able to read more about them in the future. ! END OF THE SPOILER SECTION !
Near the end, Daisy and Jordan have to face a conflict, and if you ask me, the author made a bigger problem out of it than she should have, I think Daisy overreacted the whole situation. To be completely honest, I could expect that something would happen that would result in a heartbreak, but I expected something else to be the reason for the breakup. So, as a result, the author managed to surprise me, but I would not say it was a good one.

Taking everything into account, Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak is a cute, loveable book, but it did not really sweep me off my feet. Nevertheless, I am still excited for the upcoming Campus Wallflowers novels, so I will definitely continue reading this series.
